about

In the fall of 2021 guitarist Chris Schlarb and saxophonist Alex Sadnik collaborated on a series of instrumental themes for the newest book in the Viva Durant series by Ashli St. Armant. Originally presented in the context of a four hour Audiobook, the original score features sparkling contributions from organist Carey Frank, chromatic harmonica master Bill Barrett, and classic rhythm section of Danny Frankel and Anthony Shadduck on drums and bass respectively.

Recorded and mixed over three days the music draws inspiration from 70's TV theme songs and the timeless work of Vince Guaraldi, alternating between funky, hard driving grooves and contemplative, nuanced melodies that somehow evoke an instant nostalgia.
